Equivalent Transmission Conditions for the Time-Harmonic Maxwell Equations in 3D for a Medium with a Highly Conductive Thin Sheet
نویسندگان
چکیده
We propose equivalent transmission conditions of order 1 and 2 for thin and highly conducting sheets for the time-harmonic Maxwell’s equation in three dimension. The transmission conditions are derived asymptotically for vanishing sheet thickness ε where the skin depth is kept proportional to ε. The condition of order 1 turns out to be the perfect electric conductor boundary condition. The conditions of order 2 appear as generalised Poincaré-Steklov maps between tangential components of the magnetic field and the electric field, and they are of Wentzell type involving second order surface differential operators. Numerical results with finite elements of higher order validate the asymptotic convergence for ε→ 0 and the robustness of the equivalent transmission condition of order 2.

Numerical Investigation of Birefringene Effect on the Light Reflection
In the present paper, the problem of light reflection from a birefringent medium and thin film is considered. First, the analytical equations governing the propagation of a plane and harmonic electromagnetic wave in an infinite, birefringent, linear, non-dispersive, non-absorbing, and non-magnetic medium is derived from Maxwell equations. Then, using phase matching condition and boundary condit...
متن کاملApproximate transmission conditions for time-harmonic Maxwell equations in a domain with thin layer
We study the behavior of the electromagnetic field in a biological cell modelized by a medium surrounded by a thin layer and embedded in an ambient medium. We derive approximate transmission conditions in order to replace the membrane by these conditions on the boundary of the interior domain. Our approach is essentially geometric and based on a suitable change of variables in the thin layer. F...
متن کاملA new approach for nonlinear vibration analysis of thin and moderately thick rectangular plates under inplane compressive load
In this study, a hybrid method is proposed to investigate the nonlinear vibrations of pre- and post-buckled rectangular plates for the first time. This is an answer to an existing need to develope a fast and precise numerical model which can handle the nonlinear vibrations of buckled plates under different boundary conditions and plate shapes. The method uses the differential quadrature element...

In this paper, it is tried to find an approximate single layer equivalent for multi-layer graphene sheets based on third order non-local elasticity theory. The plates are embedded in two parameter Winkler-Pasternak elastic foundation, and also the thermal effects are considered. A uniform transverse load is imposed on the plates. Applying the non-local theory of Eringen based on third order she...

In this paper, a method based on Chebyshev polynomials is developed for examination of geometrically nonlinear behaviour of thin rectangular composite laminated plates under end-shortening strain. Different boundary conditions and lay-up configurations are investigated and classical laminated plate theory is used for developing the equilibrium equations. The equilibrium equations are solved dir...
